Patrick Marleau created NHL historical past on Monday when he skated in his 1,768th game, surpassing Gordie Howe to turn into the NHL’s all-time games performed leader.
Of his 1,768 NHL games, Marleau played 1,596 with the Sharks, eight with the Penguins and 164 with the Maple Leafs. The Sharks posted the video from the pair — which also arrived with a surprise cameo from Marleau’s ex-teammate of 12 years (and 75 times his senior), Joe Thornton.

“Yet another father figure,” Marner explained. “Want to congratulate you on this accomplishment and have entertaining with your spouse and children pal.”
